| | Email this article Print this article | Wilbert L. Radtke, 80, of Lester Prairie A Mass of Christian Burial for Wilbert Leo Radtke, 80, of Lester Prairie, was held Wednesday, July 29, from Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Officiating was the Rev. Tony Hesse.
Mr. Radtke died on Friday, July 24, 2009, at the Golden Living Center in Delano.
Soloist Lavon Kielkucki sang "Ava Maria." Congregational hymns included "How Great Thou Art," "Amazing Grace," "On Eagle's Wings" and "Song of Farewell."
Serving as pallbearers were Jeremy Radtke, Nicole Weisenburger, Nathan Weisenburger, Nicholas Strei, Brianna Radtke and Jordan Radtke. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Radtke was born April 26, 1929, to Anton and Angela (Paul) Radtke in Winsted. He was baptized on April 28, 1929, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and confirmed on Oct. 25, 1942, also at Holy Trinity. He attended elementary and high school at Lester Prairie public schools and graduated in 1947.
In 1951, Mr. Radtke married his wife, Lorraine, and they were blessed with seven children.
He owned Radtke Produce Inc. in Lester Prairie for 58 years and retired from the business in 2007. He also was a dairy farmer outside of Winsted for 15 years.
Mr. Radtke was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lester Prairie Jaycees. He lived in Lester Prairie his entire life and was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.
Mr. Radtke enjoyed fishing, listening to or playing music, dancing, watching sports, especially the Minnesota Twins, playing cards and gardening.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Lorraine Seemann of Lester Prairie; his children, Barbara Radtke and friend, Juliann Ryan, of Minneapolis, Kim (Rodney) Lasky of New Hope, Joseph (Catherine) Radtke of Winsted, LuAnn (Byron) Weisenburger of Lester Prairie, Jon (Colleen) Radtke of Honolulu, Hawaii, William (Michelle) Radtke of Lester Prairie; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Tony (Jane) Radtke Jr. of Winsted, Pauline (Paul) Cady of Zimmerman; as well as other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Jeanette Howg; brothers, Quentin, Raymond, Francis, twins Lawrance and Laurel; and sister, Mary Jane Schlauderaff.
