Henry "Hiney" Zajicek, 78, of Glencoe

Henry "Hiney" Zajicek, 78, of Glencoe, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfied.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 10:30 a.m., at the Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, with interment following at the Glencoe CIty Cemetery in Glencoe.
Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 27, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Silver Lake Council tables decision to vacate alley

The Silver Lake City Council tabled the decision to vacate an alley due to opposing ideas and lack of councilors present at Monday night’s public hearing.
Mayor Bruce Bebo and councilors Greg Gillett and Eric Nelson were the only members of Council present, (councilors Nolan Johnson and Pat Fogarty were absent) and in discussing the benefits to either vacate or keep the alley, Nelson and Gillett were in disagreement.

Raymond C. Rettig, 86, of Winthrop

Raymond Rettig, 86, of Winthrop, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop with the Rev. Paul Tessmer officiating.
Vicki Kiecker was the organist. Congregational hymns were “Abide With Me,” “Softly and Tenderly,” “Jesus Loves Me” and “Take My Life and Let It Be.”

Edmund Snegosky, 83, Lester Prairie

Edmund G. Snegosky, 83, of Lester Prairie, died at the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Home in Howard Lake on Oct. 17, 2014.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake.
Ed Snegosky was born June 18, 1931, to Louis and Martha (Bugnon) Snegosky in Winsted Township, McLeod County. He farmed near Lester Prairie for many years. He truly enjoyed farming and also enjoyed working with his cattle.

Dennis R. Asplund, 71, Minnetonka

Dennis “Denny” Reginald Asplund, 71, of Minnetonka, died peacefully on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m., at the Cliffs of Minnetonka - The Club Room (12300 Marion Lane).
Mr. Asplund was born Feb. 24, 1943, in Minneapolis, to Donald and Helen  (Theissen) Asplund.
Mr. Asplund was a kind and generous soul, with a great sense of humor and contagious laughter. He was the proud, second-generation owner of Asplund Coffee Company.

Girl born to Glencoe couple

Christopher Stone and Whitney Hanke of Glencoe announce the birth of their daughter, Bria Grace Stone, on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at Hutchinson Health. She weighed 4 pounds, 12 ounces, and was 161⁄2 inches long. She is welcomed home by big sister Nora Aubrey Hanke. Grandparents are Kris and Wendy Sjogren of Glencoe and Mike Stone and Marleen Wyshock of Scranton, Pa.

Daughter for Nelson family

Megan and Erik Nelson of Brownton announce the birth of their daughter, Nora Marie, on Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Nora weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces, and was 201⁄2 inches long. She is welcomed home by siblings Charlie and Levi. Grandparents are Jim and Janet Kappers of Spring Valley and Duane and Mary Nelson of Winthrop. Great-grandparents are Irvin and Ester Evers of Wykoff and Vernon and Olive Hupf of Hampton.

Howk family welcomes son

Christina and Justin Howk of Arlington announce the birth of their son, Xavior Lynden, on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Xavior weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 21 inches in length. He is welcomed home by siblings Miguel Montes, Elonzo Montes and Gavin Howk. Grandparents are the late Robert and JoAnn Montes of Brownton, JoAnne Howk of New Ulm and Robin Howk of Pittsboro, N.C.
