Alvin Shiroo, 79, of Glencoe

Alvin Schiroo, 79, of Glencoe, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Glencoe Regional Health Services long-term care unit.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 1, at 2 p.m., at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, with interment following the service in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, March 31, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Johnson McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Arrangements are with the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.

Linda Mueller, 63, of Hamburg

Linda Mueller, 63, of Hamburg, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Memorial services will be held today (Wednesday), at 11 a.m., at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, with interment in the church cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held today from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., one hour prior to the service, at the church.

Joann Hamblin, 59, of Glencoe

Joann Hamblin, 59, of Glencoe, died Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Memorial services will be held Friday, April 4, at 1 p.m., at Riverside Assembly of God in Hutchinson. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., two hours prior to the service at the church.

Peterson makes it official — he’s running

After weeks of speculation, Minnesota 7th District Congressman Collin Peterson made it official last week. He is running for another term in Congress.
The groans from the district Republicans was audible. They were banking on the veteran Democrat finally getting out of the way so they could reclaim the so-called Republican 7th District as their own.
Won’t happen. Because, as Peterson said during a quick visit last week in Hutchinson, “People in this district are smarter than that.”

Things I do get in my junk e-mail

Sometime late Thursday afternoon, I realized I had not received a single e-mail since early that morning.
Which is odd for me, because I’ve somehow managed to get myself on every mailing list under the sun, from clothing stores to a tire store to a variety of health websites, to a sporting goods store. Like my snail mail, most of it is non-personal junk mail.
But still, I missed the steady stream e-mail and began in my own, limited techie way to try to resolve the issue which, of course, I didn’t, because I’m not as techie as I like to think I am.

Lucille Zabel, 86, of Norwood Young America

Funeral services for Lucille Zabel, 86, of Norwood Young America (NYA), will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 21, at St. John's Lutheran Church in NYA.
Ms. Zabel died on Monday, March 17, 2014, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 20, at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel of NYA. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
