Brian and Jessica Johnson of Minnetrista announce the arrival of a daughter, Vanessa Lyn, born Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. Vanessa weighed 6 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 181⁄2 inches long. She joins siblings Juliana and Cameron. Grandparents are Milan and Laurie Alexander of Glencoe and Larry and Kathy Johnson of Hector. Great-grandparents are Mabel Stradtmann of Glencoe, Virginia Alexander Eckers of Minnetonka and Frank and Babe Johnson of Hutchinson.
 

It’s funny how you can look at the same thing day after day without really noticing it.
I was brushing my teeth the other day, and was trying to squeeze the last gob of toothpaste out of a nearly empty tue when I noticed that the toothpaste was specially formulate for people “with over 50 years of experience.”
Experience in what, I wondered. So I asked the question on Facebook, because that always attracts quality answers. This is what I got: “chewing,” “flapping your gums” and “life.”

To the Editor:
Since there seems to be no concern by neither our press nor our political representatives, I feel obligated to write about the prospective “Trans-Pacific Partnership” (TPP)  trade pact with “Fast Track” authority being negotiated in secret by corporate sponsors.  

The Jan. 12 Glencoe-Silver Lake (GSL) School Board planning meeting brought many issues to the table, but none more in-depth than the proposal to close Helen Baker School and relocate kindergarten through second grade to the Lincoln Junior High and GSL High School campus.
To accommodate this expansion a review and comment proposal has been drafted and presented to the School Board, with the intent to pass it on for Department of Education approval and, eventually, put to a community vote on May 12.

Blizzard Blast, the annual fundraiser for Allina Health Hospice Foundation, is set for Friday, Jan. 30, at 5:30 p.m., at the Glencoe City Center, 1107 11th St. E, Glencoe.
This will be the ninth year of the event.
Tickets are $30 per person, and include dinner (catered by Chef Craig) and live music by Rhinestone.
The fundraiser also includes live and silent auctions and a raffle.
