GSL in full swing; building project update

To the Editor:
 
We are in full swing at Glencoe-Silver Lake (GSL).  
 
Classes are in the second half of the first trimester, fall activities are moving into the section competition, and our calendar continues to move along.  The school year is certainly moving fast and furious.
 

Parks are unkept; who’s in charge?

To the Editor:
 
Last week I took my son to the playground out by Miller Manufacturing. The grass outside the playground was freshly mowed. The weeds inside the playground were 3 feet tall. It made me curious to know who owns this playground. Is the city in charge of it? Is Miller? Who is responsible for maintenance?
 

Silver Lake City Council approves water, sewer rate increases for 2016

With a new year around the corner and another budget in the works, the Silver Lake City Council reviewed its fee schedule for the upcoming year.
 
City Clerk Kerry Venier recommended an increase in the water and sewer usage fees to $4 per 1,000 gallons for water usage and $6 per 1,000 gallons for sewer usage. 
 

2 arrested after high-speed chase in Renville County

On Oct. 9, at approximately 5:39 p.m., an off-duty Renville County deputy reported a suspicious vehicle on Renville County Road 15 west of Highway 71 to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office.
 

Stewart City Council to review inspection RFPs at workshop

The Stewart City Council will consider two proposals for building inspection services at a workshop session Monday, Oct. 26, at 6 p.m.
 
The City Council, at its Tuesday, Oct. 13, meeting, received two requests for proposals (RFPs) for building inspectors, one from its current provider, MNSpect of Waconia, and the other from 101 Development Resources, Inc., of Arlington.
 

Kruggel resigns from Stewart City Council

The Stewart City Council is seeking a new council member.
 
The City Council passed a resolution at its Tuesday, Oct. 13, meeting accepting the resignation of Council Member Chuck Kruggel, and declaring a vacancy on the Council. Mayor Jason Peirce said Kruggel has moved out of the city, and therefore is no longer qualified to be on the City Council.
 

Baby boy for Dording family

Elisa and Ryan Dording of Glencoe announce the birth of their son, Alex Allen Dording, born Oct. 15, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Alex weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 20 inches long. Grandparents are Dennis and Joan Dording and Bruce and Lynette Froehlich, all of Winthrop. 

Forciers welcome baby boy

Natasha and Jacob Forcier of Winsted announce the birth of their son, Charlie Jacob Forcier, born Oct. 14, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Charlie weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces, and was 20 inches long. He joins siblings Courtnie, Jack and Dylan. Grandparents are John Forcier of Winsted, Scott and Cindy Wetzel of St. Francis, Dave and Debbie Cartwright of Silver Lake and the late Randy Niesen. 

Son born to Hanson family

Laura and Bryce Hanson of Glencoe announce the birth of their son, McCoy Neil Hanson, born Oct. 13, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. McCoy weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 201⁄2 inches long. Grandparents are Danny and Diane Amundson of Frost and Pamela and Buzz Hanson of Blue Earth. 

Baby boy born to Ewerts

Tessa and Kyle Ewert of Hutchinson announce the birth of their son, Grayson Martin Ewert, born Oct. 12, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Grayson weighed 9 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 191⁄2 inches long. He joins sibling Parker. Grandparents are Joel and Paula Schlueter  and Jack and Yvonne Ewert, all of Hutchinson.
