Bruce Bradley Mielke, 68, Brownton

Bruce Bradley Mielke, 68, of Brownton, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at his home.
 
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with the Revs. Scott Grorud and Dave Wollan officiating. Mike Lauer was the pianist. Congregational hymns were “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Beyond the Sunset” and “How Great Thou Art.”
 
Urn bearers were Logan Broich and Eva Broich.

Harriet A.E. Kruckman, 88, of Glencoe

Harriet Alma Estelle (Nagel) Kruckman, 88, of Glencoe, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.
 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m., at the Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe with the Rev. Anthony Stubeda officiating.

Lady Panthers clinch share of WCC West championship

With yet another three-game sweep, this time of Rockford, the Glencoe-Silver Lake volleyball team clinched at least a share of the Wright County Conference West championship Monday night.

However, coach Lori Schwirtz had little time for any talk of splitting the crown with anyone this season – pointing instead to the one critical game remaining on the team’s schedule.

“We can win the title outright on Thursday,” she said. “We don’t want to share it this year.”

Netters end season at sectional tournament

The lone remaining competitors for the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ tennis team saw their seasons come to a close in the Section 2A individual tournament on Thursday, Oct. 15 at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.

Senior Lindsay Wedin and junior Teanna Vorlicek, seeded sixth in the doubles bracket, defeated Julia Elmquist and Marissa Johnson of Southwest Christian 6-1, 6-0 in opening-round play before falling 6-4, 6-2 to Kelli Hanson/Josie Carlson of St. Peter in the quarterfinals.
