Dorothy Lilienthal, 91, of Glencoe

Dorothy “Dottie” Lilienthal, 91, of Glencoe, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.
Memorial services were held Saturday, April 11, at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe. The Rev. Katherine Rood officiated, and Peggy Hatlestad was the organist. Congregational hymns were “I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry,” “Beautiful Savior,” “Blessed Assurance” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Interment was in the First Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Glencoe.

Betty J. Pulkrabek, 89, of Hutchinson

Betty J. Pulkrabek, 89, of Hutchinson, formerly of Silver Lake, died Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Harmony River in Hutchinson.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, April 9, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with the Rev. Tony Stubeda as the celebrant. Interment was in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Matthew Frauenshuh, Ron Johnson, Gary Piehl, David Pulkrabek, Tim Pulkrabek and Dale Syverson.
Betty Pulkrabek was born July 30, 1925, in Hutchinson, to William C. and Victoria P. (Byczynski) Pofahl.

Schlueter — Lang

Jennifer Schlueter and Tyler Lang, both of Glencoe, announce their engagement.
Parents of the couple are Roger and Deb Schlueter and Randy and Tami Lang.
Jennifer Schlueter is a graduate of Glencoe-Silver Lake High School and Gustavus Adolphus College. She is employed as a registered nurse at Hutchinson Health.
Tyler Lang is a graduate of Glencoe-Silver Lake High School and Minnesota State University, Mankato. He is employed as a mechanical engineer at Hutchinson Manufacturing.

Brinkmann — De Blieck

Rachelle Brinkmann and Craig De Blieck, both of Glenwood, announce their engagement.
Parents of the couple are Brian and Konnie Brinkmann of Glencoe and Paul and Mary De Blieck of Redwood Falls.
Rachelle Brinkmann is a 2003 graduate of Glencoe-Silver Lake High School and a 2009 graduate of St. Cloud State University. She is a paraprofessional at Glacial Hills Elementary.
Craig De Blieck is a 2003 graduate of Redwood Valley High School and a 2007 graduate of Ridgewater College. He is employed by the Canadian Pacific Railroad as a maintainer.

Trebbensee — Bauer

Jessica Trebbensee of Silver Lake and Clayton Bauer of Hamburg announce their engagement.
Parents of the couple are Larry and Cathy Trebbensee of New Auburn and Ken and Marcia Bauer of Glencoe.
Jessica Trebbensee is a graduate of Glencoe-Silver Lake High School and South Central Technical College in Mankato, and currently is employed as a drafter at Plato Woodwork.
Clayton Bauer is a graduate of Glencoe-Silve Lake High School and is self-employed.
The couple will be married May 30 in Plato.

Girl born to Glencoe couple

Silvestre Martinez and Stephanie Davila announce the birth of a daughter, Kiara May Martinez, born April 5, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Kiara weighed 5 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 191⁄2 inches long at birth. She joins siblings Lluvia Martinez and Silvestre Martinez Jr. Grandparents are Juan and Maria Davila of Fairfax and Santiago and Andre Martinez of Glencoe.

City of Brownton sets May 12 hearing for proposed project

The city of Brownton has set a public hearing on its proposed street and utility improvements for Tuesday, May 12, at 7 p.m., in the Brownton Community Center.
The City Council set the public hearing at its April 6 meeting after hearing from engineer John Rodeberg of Short Elliott Hendrickson (SEH) that a public hearing is the next step in the process of seeking funding from the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development program.

Villager Apartments still a topic for Silver Lake City Council

Landlords and rental property issues are not unique to Silver Lake. And change doesn’t come easily or quickly.
Over the past several weeks, the city of Silver Lake has been working with the owners of the eight-unit Villager Apartments on Grove Avenue.
The Villager is owned by Mike Jaunich and Tim Wabbe of ATB Properties, Delano.
The city has had Waste Management empty the dumpster twice. The cost of garbage removal, along with any other administrative fees, will be assessed to the property owners.

Silver Lake to buy new fire tanker

Fire departments are known for being fiscally responsible and using their vehicles for as long as possible. But the time has come for the Silver Lake Fire Department to replace its 32-year old tanker truck.
Representatives from the fire department presented a proposal to the Silver Lake City Council on Monday, April 6, to purchase a 2007 heavy-duty pick-up truck chassis for $42,495 to replace the 1983 tanker truck.
The cost includes any modifications that would need to be made to support adding the tank.

GSL sets 2 more building bond forums

Glencoe-Silver Lake (GSL) Superintendent Chris Sonju announced Monday night that two more public forums on the district’s proposed $24 million building bond have been set: one for April 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Helen Baker School, the other for May 7 at the high school.
The district’s first forum, in March, was poorly attended — three district residents, a reporter and two school board members showed up.
