April 22nd

Topsy-turvy week for Panthers baseball

It was a stretch full of performances both impressive and disappointing as the Glencoe-Silver Lake baseball team squeezed in five games last week.

Track and field teams get outdoors

The Glencoe-Silver Lake track and field teams took their collective show on the road last week for a pair of outdoor meets, before Mother Nature once again proved to be a prankster on Monday.
While Panthers competitors found their share of success in both male and female competition, the week was particularly good for the boys’ team, who won their first meet of the season at Foley on Friday, April 17.

GSL golf teams keep on playing

The Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ and boys’ golf teams competed in some wildly various weather conditions as both squads got their spring seasons underway over the past week.
The GSL girls swung away under sunny skies and warm temperatures when they commenced their campaign at Burl Oaks Golf Club in Mound on Tuesday April 14, as did the Panthers boys when they began their schedule on their home course at Glencoe Country Club two days later.

Bruins roar into the season on a high note

The Brownton Bruins amateur baseball team opened its 2015 season with an 8-4 win over St. Croix Falls.
While a victory was appreciated, the non-league game also gave the Bruins the opportunity to give five of its pitchers live experience on the mound, as well as the defense a chance to try more than one position.
