School bond vote is Tuesday

Glencoe-Silver Lake School District residents will go to the polls Tuesday, May 12, to vote upon a $24.19 million building bond issue.
If successful, the bond would fund the relocating of the kindergarten through second-grade students from Helen Baker Elementary School to a new addition at the high school/junior high school campus. Helen Baker would then be closed.

City Council OKs resolution for bond issue

There is no shortage of improvement projects taking place in the city of Glencoe this year.
The Glencoe City Council approved a resolution to issue $6.735 million in general obligation improvement bonds Monday, May 4, for the Lincoln Park area street improvement project. The bonds will be issued May 20.
The resolution was passed on a 3-1 voted. Vice President of the Council John Schrupp did not vote, as he was running the meeting in Mayor Randy Wilson’s absence. Council Member Al Robeck voted against the resolution.

County prepares informational material for one-sort recycling

Residents in McLeod County communities will be receiving information this week on the transition to the county’s new single-sort recycling program.
Sarah Young, the county’s solid waste coordinator, updated the Solid Waste Advisory Committee — which now consists of the five commissioners — on educational efforts at a meeting Friday morning.
The information will be dropped off as recycling customers get their new single-sort recycling carts, which will replace the blue bins.

County turns low seal coat bid into better road surface

The savings from a low seal coat bid this year will result in other McLeod County road improvement.
Highway Engineer John Brunkhorst requested McLeod County Board approval to solicit quotes for an ultra-thin bonded wearing course on South Grade Road (CSAH 115) between CSAH 7 and Otter Lake Bridge in lieu of doing a double-chip seal that had been approved.
