Silver Lake woman hurt in 2-vehicle Hwy. 7 crash

Barbara Wraspir, 65, of Silver Lake, was injured in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 7 near Lester Prairie. The accident was reported at 12:05 a.m. Sunday.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2003 Toyota Highlander, driven by Dylan Kraimer, 23, of Minnetonka, was northbound on Babcock Avenue and entered Highway 7, where it struck a westbound 2014 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Alan Wraspir, 66, of Silver Lake. The Chevrolet had the right of way, according to the State Patrol.

Former Glencoe man dies in cycle crash in Belle Plaine

Justin J. Posusta, 24, of Belle Plaine, formerly of Glencoe, died early Saturday in a motorcycle crash in Belle Plaine.
According to a report in the Star Tribune, the accident was reported about 1 a.m. Saturday, and occurred near the intersection of Lacy Court and Lindsey Lane in Belle Plaine. Posusta’s motorcycle apparently hit a curb, and he was thrown against a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident happened about a quarter-mile from Posusta’s home.

Gruenhagen speaks on ‘health care crisis’

State Rep. Glenn Gruenhagen spoke on “health care in crisis” on Tuesday night, June 9, at a meeting of the Greater Minnesota Republican Women group.
Gruenhagen discussed the issues he sees with the state’s government-controlled health care program, Minnesota Health Insurance Exchange, also known as MNsure.
Gruenhagen said the program is just too expensive. Though the government will pay 90 percent of the costs for the first few years, he said he believes that funding will not last.

Rev. Stubeda celebrates 30th anniversary of his ordination

The 30th anniversary of the Rev. Anthony Stubeda’s ordination to the priesthood was celebrated June 1 with a Mass of Thanksgiving conducted by the Bishop John M. LeVoir at the Church of the Holy Family in Silver Lake.  Around 300 family, friends and parishioners attended the event. A reception took place following the service.
Stubeda was ordained a priest for the Diocese of New Ulm on June 1, 1985.

Southwest, Gerry’s eye clinics merge

Southwest Eye Care and Gerry’s Vision Shoppe, both of Glencoe, merged into one company in May. The clinic will now function out of the Southwest Eye Care building on Greeley Avenue.
The merger was years in the making, according to Southwest Manager Patty Riebe. The company had approached Gerry’s Vision owner Heidi Klockmann several times about a merger, but she said she was not ready until recently.
