Garden City man killed, Winsted man injured in accident

A Garden City man was killed and a Winsted man injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 169 in Faribault County Wednesday, July 22.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Daniel T. Hamann, 58, of Winsted, was driving southbound on Highway 169 in a 1993 Freightliner semi when his vehicle was broadsided by a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Keith Wilds, 32, of Garden City, which was westbound on 240th Street.

GRHS starts full-time orthopedics department, to expand rehab area

Glencoe Regional Health Services (GRHS) is establishing its first full-time orthopedics department and significantly expanding its rehabilitation department to provide area residents with convenient, local access to specialized care for bones, muscles, joints and connective tissues.

Hale resident files suit against township

Resident George Pawlitschek is suing Hale Township over the alteration of the road Jupiter Court in the Waters Edge subdivision near Silver Lake. Pawlitschek filed a civil suit with the McLeod County District Court on June 15.
The road in question was extended by the township in June 2014 in order to connect 199th Circle and 200th Street.

2 accidents reported in Sibley County

The Sibley County Sheriff’s office responded to two separate one-vehicle accidents last week.
On Friday, July 24, at about 3 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of an unoccupied vehicle in a county ditch on 246th Street, near 535th Avenue, about three miles north of Winthrop.
The driver was later identified as Katelyn Plendl, 16, of rural Brownton. She apparently lost control while navigating a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix on a curve on the gravel road. She was not injured; the car had moderate damage.

Home occupation CUP sought for recycling cooking oil

A Minnetonka man is hoping to move his cooking oil recycling business to property just south of Highway 212 between Glencoe and Plato.
Lev Mirman appeared before the McLeod County Planning Advisory Commission Wednesday, July 22, looking for approval of a conditional use permit to construct a building larger than 2,400 square feet on less than 10 acres of land to be used for personal storage and a home occupation to recycle cooking oil.
