Wolter — Klemz Engagement

Erin Wolter of Glencoe and Todd Klemz of Otsego announce their engagement. They will be married Nov. 14 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton.
Parents of the couple are Bob and Dawn Wolter of Glencoe and Brad and Amy Klemz of Otsego.
Erin Wolter attended Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall and currently is a server at Ground Round in Waconia.

Grandchildren list grows

The Keith and Kathy Eggersgluess grandchildren list grew by two this summer.  
Taylor Rauch
Taylor Jo Rauch was born to Nick and Katie Rauch at Glencoe Regional Health Services on Tuesday, May 26.
Taylor Jo weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces, and measured 201⁄2 inches. She also has a lot of hair. She was welcomed home by big brother, Bennett. 

Baby girl to Washington family

Antoine and Gloria (Rettig) Washington announce the birth of their daughter, Blake Erin Washington, born Sept. 18, 2015, at Rust Medical Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Blake weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces and was 21 1/2 inches long. She joins siblings Jacie, 13, Brycen, 10, and Ryen, 1. Grandparents are Elmer and Amy Rettig of Stewart and Sharon Washington of Florence, Kentucky. Great-grandmother is Frances Loncorich of Stewart.

Rita M. Klenicky, 90, of Glencoe

Rita Magdalene Klenicky, 90, of Glencoe, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with the Rev. Anthony Stubeda as celebrant.
Honorary casket bearers were Sharon Ardolf, Shirley Fiecke and Kim Paulson. Casket bearers were Gerald Harris, Glen Mallak, Richard Paulson, Albert Teubert and Mike Popelka.

Alta Mae Krant, 91, of Glencoe

Alta Mae (Peterson) Krant, 91, of Glencoe, formerly of Lester Prairie, died peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 27, at Lyngblomsten Care Center in St. Paul.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 30, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie with the Rev. Travis Loeslie officiating. Nancy Buckentine was the organist. Congregational hymns were “Our God, Our Help in Ages Past,” “Just As I Am, Without One Plea” and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives.”

Beverly Ann Stifter, 73, of Hopkins

Beverly Ann Stifter, 73, of Hopkins, formerly of Silver Lake, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, at her home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m., at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church - St. Joseph Campus in Hopkins.

Girls' soccer ties at Homecoming

The Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ soccer team snagged a tie in its Homecoming game, but was unable to add to its win tally last week. Entering the final four-game stretch of the regular season, including a home game against Hutchinson that was played on Tuesday after the Chronicle went to press, the Panthers held a 1-6-3 record.

Down 1-0 to Rockford on Tuesday, Sept. 22, midfielder Emily Thalmann corralled a give-and-go pass from defender Abril Iracheta and planted the ball in the back of the net to knot the score 1-all.

GSL Hall of Fame inducts new members

The GSLPanther Association welcomed four new members into its Hall of Fame as part of its eighth-annual induction on Friday, Sept. 25.

Activities director/community volunteer Kathy Olson, student athlete Tom Reid, coach and teacher Dennis Roisum and student musician/actress Deborah Jean Templin were inducted as part of the Class of 2015.

The association also recognized the 1996 Glencoe-Silver Lake baseball team, coached by Roisum, which took third in the State Class A Tournament as the first Panthers’ athletic squad to participate on the state level.

CC teams take first, second at Delwiche Invite

The Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams competed in a pair of meets last week, competing at Crown College as well as GSLHigh School.

First up was the Run of Lakes Invitational, hosted by Waconia, which took place in St. Bonifacious.

The GSL girls placed fourth out of 10 squads in the team standings, led by eighth-graders Annamaria Falcon and Megan Siewert.

Falcon and Siewert placed ninth and 10th, respectively, with times of 21 minutes, 35 seconds and 21:36.9.

Lady Panthers win SE Tournament

With a clean sweep of the Southeast Invitational Tournament in Gaylord on Saturday, Sept. 26, the Glencoe-Silver Lake volleyball team improved to 16-4 on the season in claiming their first tourney title of the autumn.

The Lady Panthers swept through 10 straight games in winning five matches against Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial (25-15, 25-15), Norwood Young America (25-19, 25-15 and 25-14, 25-19), Springfield (25-18, 25-20) and Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop (25-18, 25-17).
