What’s with the stakes in the cemetery?

Visitors to the Glencoe City Cemetery and First Lutheran Church Cemetery may have noticed stakes set up around the perimeter of the open grass area in the middle of the property.
The stakes are being used in a survey of the area for a potential storm water pond project, not to outline upcoming construction.
City Administrator Mark Larson explained the process is to determine if creating a storm water pond in that area will work and, if so, how.
The pond is a potential piece of the Armstrong Avenue project, the city’s 2016 public improvement project.

At its Sept. 1 meeting, Grivna had told the County Board that the contractor, Acme, had pushed to have the project delayed until next spring. However, Grivna said, the project needed to be done as soon as possible before other work could be done.

According to County Administrator Pat Melvin, employees who volunteered for the program — in which they would get their health care at Ridgeview clinics — would get a 5 percent discount on their health insurance premium.
Melvin said Ridgeview’s clinics are primarily in Sibley County, with one clinic in Winsted.
