Netters fourth at Hutch

After falling 7-0 to Delano in a dual match on Tuesday, Sept. 15 and a rainout of their dual versus Holy Family Catholic two days later, the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ tennis team opened its weekend playing in the Hutchinson Tennis Invitational, finishing fourth overall.

The Panthers took on Foley, Princeton and the host Tigers on Friday, Sept. 18 in a number of round-robin matches in both singles and doubles play.

Lady Panthers take second at Heritage Christian tourney

The Glencoe-Silver Lake volleyball team entered Homecoming week with a 10-3 overall record after finishing second at the Heritage Christian Tournament in Maple Grove last weekend.

After a four-game defeat of Wright County Conference opponent Litchfield on Thursday, Sept. 17, the Panthers went 5-2 in tournament play over the next two days.

The Panthers’ lone losses were to the tournament hosts, who are 14-0 on the season and ranked fifth in Class A.

Goals hard to come by for girls' soccer team

Goals have been hard to come by for the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ soccer team. In five of its last six matches entering this week, the Panthers have found themselves on the unfortunate side of shutouts, with only a 3-3 tie versus Mayer Lutheran on Sept. 14 breaking the string.

Baby boy born to Johnsons

Heather and Joshua Johnson of Glencoe announce the birth of their son, Phoenyx Michael Johnson, born Aug. 10, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Phoenyx weighed 6 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 20 inches long. He joins siblings Maxwell and Penelope. Grandparents are Carol and Michael Johnson of Chaska and Sara Schmitz and Rob Corder of Long Lake. 

Daughter for Prochaskas

Christine and Jason Prochaska of Hutchinson announce the birth of their daughter, Perrie Jean Prochaska, born Aug. 9, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Perrie weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces, and was 191⁄4 inches long. She is welcomed home by sister June, 5, and brother Urban, 2. Grandparents are Larry and Linda Prochaska of Silver Lake, Sharon Krug and Paul Nelson of Litchfield, and the late Daniel Rau of Bigelow, Arkansas.

Baby girl to Glencoe couple

Teresa Rannow and Trinity Johnson of Glencoe announce the birth of their daughter, Liberty Rayne Johnson, born Aug. 9, 2015, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. Liberty weighed 4 pounds, 14 ounces. She joins big brother Alexander. Grandparents are Sue and Wally Rannow and Cory and Jane Johnson. Uncles are Cory Rannow and Randy Johnson.

Heather Langness and Cody Creech of Gaylord announce the birth of their daughter, Aubree Mae Schauer, born Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Aubree weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 20 inches long. She joins brother Noah James Schauer. Grandparents are Christy Koenig and Angyelile Kantolile of Gibbon, Chris and Julie Langness of Cosmos, Rachelle Creech and Shawn Keyser of Le Sueur and Jessie Schauer and Joni Reed of Arlington. 

Son born to Buckentins

Elizabeth and Christopher Buckentin of Brownton announce the birth of their son, Maverick Joel Buckentin, born Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Maverick weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces, and was 201⁄4 inches long. He is welcomed home by brother August Buckentin. Grandparents are Joel and Deb Kampa of Kimball and Alan and Karen Buckentin of Brownton.

Carmen and Ryan Baumann of Lester Prairie announce the birth of their daughter, Addalyn James Baumann, born Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Addalyn weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 211⁄2 inches long. Grandparents are Jerry Hoese of Lester Prairie, Lynn Norby of Cokato and Mike and Beth Baumann of Mayer.

Kandi and Cody Hess of Plato announce the birth of  their daughter, Evelyn Grace Hess, born Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Evelyn weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 21 inches long at birth.
