Don’t laugh: he’s sorry for politicians

By Lee H. Hamilton
You know who I feel sorry for? Today’s politicians.
You’ll laugh at this, but hear me out. This is a very tough time to be a politician — whether running for office or trying to lead while holding office. The women and men who’ve undertaken to represent us face circumstances that make campaigning and governing unusually challenging right now.

GSL girls’ hoopsters hovering around .500

It was a pretty happy Christmas for the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ basketball team.
The Panthers entered the holiday break with a .500 record after a 44-34 win at Jordan on Tuesday, Dec. 22 leveled GSL’s record at 4-4 on the season.
“We are 4-4, which is okay,” head coach Zach Otto-Fisher said. “We could be 2-6, we could be 6-2. So, we are right in the middle of that.”

GSL/LP grapplers split at Lester Prairie

The Glencoe-Silver Lake/Lester Prairie wrestling team wrapped up 2015 in familiar form, earning a split in a triangular meet held at Lester Prairie High School on Tuesday, Dec. 22.
The Panthers shut out on of their guests, blanking Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted 71-0. However, GSL/LP couldn’t make it a clean sweep, losing 46-21 to Delano.

Panther boys ready for the New Year

It would be hard to blame the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ basketball team if they are ready to put 2015 behind them.
It hasn’t been the kindest of opening stretches for the Panthers, who sat at 2-6 on the season after a 69-26 loss to Forest Lake in the opening round of the Tartan Holiday Tournament in Oakdale.
“It was a little rugged,” coach Robb DeCorsey said of the Forest Lake game. “It was a rough night.”
