Baby girl to Nelson family

Melissa and Tyler Nelson of Plato announce the birth of their daughter, Kalia Bell Nelson, born Dec. 2, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Kalia weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces, and was 211⁄2 inches long. She joins siblings Jack, Noah and Max. Grandparents are Dan and Mary Joe Dammann of Glencoe, Alan and Deb Brantingham of St. Paul and Rick Nelson of Coon Rapids. Great-grandparents are Teri and Clancy Campbell of Winsted and Lillian Dammann of Lester Prairie. 

Kuehn accepted to Luther

Madeline Kuehn of Plato has been accepted to Luther College in Iowa for admission for the 2016-2017 academic year. Kuehn has been awarded the Luther College Founders Scholarship. 

Ag Center patrons OK merger with UFC

The Brownton Co-op Ag Center had its final annual meeting in its 100-year history as an independent cooperative Friday as patrons approved a merger with United Farmers Cooperative (UFC), headquartered in Winthrop.
 
UFC, which built a grain-handling facility just north of the Ag Center about three years ago, is also proposing to build a new fertilizer plant on the same property.
 

David M. Latzig, 65, of New Germany

David M. Latzig, 65, of New Germany, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
 
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 5, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with the Rev. LeRoy LaPlant officiating.
Casket bearers were Dwaine Zebell, Bruce Kohls, Matt Wosmek, Paul Krueger, Andy Lewis and Marlin Schroeder.
 
Interment was in the St. Mark Lutheran Church cemetery in New Germany.

Ethel Alice Hardel, 86, of Brownton

Ethel Alice (Lindeman) Hardel, 86, of Brownton, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at her home at Grand Meadows in Glencoe.
 
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton with the Rev. R. Allan Reed officiating. Norma Witte was the organist. Congregational hymns were “Nearer, My God, to Thee,” “The Lord’s My Shepherd” and “Silent Night.”

Ivan Leonard Donnay, 99, of Glencoe

Ivan Leonard Donnay, 99, of Glencoe, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at his daughter’s home in Hutchinson.
 
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 3, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe with the Rev. Ronald Mathison officiating. Dawn Wolter was the organist. Congregational hymns were “I’m But a Stranger Here,” “Amazing Grace” and “Abide With Me.”
