Mary Brummond, 100, wife of Bruce, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, formerly of Hutchinson, died Oct. 29, 2016, at the Fountains of Crystal Lake Assisted Living in Crystal Lake, Illinois.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m., at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, with interment following in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson.

Leslie George Dolezal, 88, of North Minneapolis, formerly of Silver Lake, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at the Golden Living Center in Hopkins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church. The Rev. Paul Schumacher will be the celebrant and Alice Nowak will be the organist.
Casket bearers are KariLyn Carlson, Chad Dolezal, Robin Dolezal, Wade Dolezal, Randy Knoll, Lynn Lutz and Tim Speckel.


Marlene Braun, 59, of Hutchinson

Marlene Braun, 59, of Hutchinson, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at Hutchinson Health Hospital.
The funeral service was held Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson with the Rev. Jerry Meidl officiating.
Interment was in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, rural Stewart. Casket bearers were Jody Miller, Sara Shurtleff, Stacy Pederson, Gene Becker, Nick Pichotta and Brent Pichotta. Honorary casket bearers were the staff and residents at Aveyron Homes.

Retiree needs adult supervision

I had a bad week recently.
How can a retiree have a bad week, you ask? Trust me, it happens.
Three things happened. The first occurred while grocery shopping. After we unloaded the groceries into the car, I pushed the empty cart to the nearby corral. When I was done, I tugged on the door handle of a vehicle only to discover I was one parking stall off. It was not my silver Buick. It was a charcoal gray car. The only similarity was both had four wheels.
My wife gave me that cute little wave that indicated she was over here, not there.

Veterans Day a time to honor all veterans

To the Editor:
Veterans Day is an official United States holiday. Observed annually on Nov. 11, it honors military veterans. Veterans Day celebrates the service of all United States military veterans. Memorial Day honors those who died while in the military service.


Leaf vacuum makes resident’s life much easier
