Gymnasts return many familiar faces

It’s been a busy few weeks for the Glencoe-Silver Lake gymnastics team as the Panthers get ready for the 2016-17 season opener on Saturday, Dec. 10 at Northfield.
“We are getting there,” coach Kim Hahn said. “The first month before our first meet is always a little chaotic in that we have to choreograph routines for each of the events per our requirements.  But when the routines are all complete then practices work around current skills and adding in new ones.”

Wrestlers return to the mat

Expectations are tempered for this season’s Glencoe-Silver Lake/Lester Prairie wrestling team, but while numbers are a bit down with approximately 25 wrestlers at the upper levels, there’s still good reason for optimism concerning this year’s Panthers.
“We’re down a bit number-wise, but it’s a real good group of kids,” coach Lance Wurm said. “They work real hard.”

Cagers tune up for season

In both the first and final tuneup for the 2016-17 season, the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ basketball team competed amongst a four-team scrimmage at Eden Prairie High School on Saturday, Nov. 26.
“It was a good day,” coach Robb DeCorsey said. “I was feeling good, actually pretty giddy, afterward.”
The Panthers opened by scrimmaging Lakeville North – the Class AAAA state tournament runner-up from last season.
