Gymnasts fall to visiting Cardinals

A score just two-tenths behind its season opener was not enough to secure a second-straight home victory for the Glencoe-Silver Lake gymnastics team as the Panthers fell 123.600-116.325 to visiting Annandale on Thursday, Dec. 22.
However, Gia Venier won her second consecutive individual all-around victory with a score of 31.775. Venier won the floor exercise with an 8.5, finished third in the vault (8.35) and balance beam (7.625) and claimed a third-place tie on the uneven bars with a 7.3.

Wrestlers fall at Annandale

The Glencoe-Silver Lake/Lester Prairie wrestling team closed out 2016 with a 51-23 loss at Annandale on Thursday, Dec. 22. Though the Panthers won five of eight contested matches, Annandale/Maple Lake was the beneficiary of six GSL/LP forfeits in claiming the overall victory.

Boys’ hoops on a hot streak

After beginning the season with three straight losses, the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ basketball team has found itself on the happy side of .500 headed into Christmas following a four-game winning streak. The Panthers improved to 4-3 by means of back-to-back home wins against Mayer Lutheran and Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted last week.

Girls’ cagers return to winning ways

A 69-32 win at Belle Plaine sent the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ basketball team into the holiday break with a winning record at 4-3.
The Panthers wasted little time in going up large on the host Tigers, a fellow Section 2AA competitor, taking a 42-17 halftime lead en route to the 37-point victory.
