Trailblazer still struggling to fill positions

The Trailblazer Transit Joint Powers Board on Monday turned down a request to allow its executive committee — consisting of the chair and vice chair — to negotiate contracts with potential administrative employees.
It did, however, agree to allow Executive Director Gary Ludwig the latitude to negotiate salaries on suggested pay ranges, and bring recommendations back to the full board of approval.

Minor injuries reported in single-vehicle rollover

Allison Rachel Larson, 21, of rural Gaylord, suffered minor injuries in a vehicle rollover Sunday morning. The accident was reported at 8:49 a.m., according to the Sibley County Sheriff’s Office.
Larson was reportedly driving east on County Road 18 when she lost control on the frosty road surface as she entered a curve near 431st Avenue, about seven miles southeast of Gaylord. Her 1999 Chevy Cavalier crossed the center line, entered the east ditch, and rolled over. The vehicle was totaled.
Gaylord Fire and Ambulance assisted with the accident.

Scott Kirby to perform at Glencoe City Center

Scott Kirby will present “Main Street Souvenirs,” with live piano music, a spoken narrative and a video presentation Thursday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m., in the Glencoe City Center Auditorium.
The music in the first half of the program will span about 150 years of American pop, jazz and folk music, including tunes by Scott Joplin, Stephen Foster, John Phillip Sousa and many others, continuing up to the present time. In the second half of the program, Kirby will include music, narratives about the history of the Great Plains and prairies, as well as projected visuals.

McLeod GOP caucuses set for March 1

McLeod County Republican Party caucuses are set for Tuesday, March 1, with registration starting at 6:30 p.m. and the caucuses starting at 7 p.m. at all precincts:
• Hutchinson Event Center, 1005 Hwy. 15 S, Plaza 15, Hutchinson, for the cities of Hutchinson and Biscay and the townships of Hutchinson, Hassan Valley, Acoma and Lynn.
• McLeod County North Complex, 2391 Hennepin Ave. N, Glencoe, for the cities of Glencoe and Plato and Glencoe and Helen townships.

McLeod County DFL precinct caucuses set

McLeod County Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) party precinct caucuses locations have been announced. All start at 6 p.m.
• Glencoe High School Media Center, 1825 16th St. E, Glencoe, for the city of Glencoe, Glencoe Township, Hale Township, city of Plato, Rich Valley Township and the city of Silver Lake. For more information, contact Pat Tanchin at 320-296-1577.

Sibley County GOP sets precinct caucuses

On Tuesday, March 1, at 7 p.m., Republicans across Minnesota will be gathering for precinct caucuses. Those eligible to vote in the 2016 election will have the opportunity to cast a vote in the presidential preference ballot.
Attendees in Sibley Council also will be discussing issues and platform resolutions, and electing delegates to the Sibley County Republican Convention, which will be held Saturday, April 2, in Gaylord.
