MPCA issues air pollution health advisory for western Minnesota

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has issued an air pollution health advisory for western Minnesota effective Thursday afternoon through 8am Friday morning. The affected area includes Mankato, Hutchinson, St. Cloud, Marshall, Willmar, Detroit Lakes, Brainerd, Bemidji, and Thief River Falls.

Weather sirens to be tested today

Severe weather sirens will be tested today, as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week.

Official say it’s designed to remind Minnesotans about the threats of severe weather that can occur during the summer months.

Tornado drills are scheduled today (Thursday) throughout Minnesota. At 1:55 p.m. and 6:55 p.m. outdoor warning sirens and NOAA weather radios will sound for a simulated tornado warning.

Silver Lake teen injured in rollover

Sabina A. Wallace, 19, of Silver Lake, was injured in a rollover accident Wednesday near Glencoe. The accident was reported at 8:55 p.m.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Wallace was driving westbound on Highway 212 in a 2006 Mazda 6, approaching Falcon Avenue, and Chad R. Johanneck, 47, of Glencoe, was driving a 2004 Ford pickup and attempting to enter westbound Highway 212 from Falcon Avenue. Wallace swerved to avoid the pickup, lost control and went into the north ditch, where the car rolled.
