Seminars offered for Gulf War vets, spouses

McLeod County Veterans Services is hosting seminars for Gulf War veterans and their spouses who had active military service after Aug. 2, 1990, to include Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm, post-9/11 and current conflicts.
The seminar will be hosted at three different times: Friday, April 22, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday, April 22, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., all at the McLeod County North Complex, 2381 Hennepin Ave. N, Glencoe.

GSL prom, grand march set Saturday

The Glencoe-Silver Lake High school prom grand march is set for Saturday, April 23, at 3 p.m., in the high school gymnasium.
Doors for the event open at 2:15 p.m. There is a charge for admission.
The prom theme will be “Hollywood.”

Track and field teams take it outside

The Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ and boys’ track and field teams competed outside for the first time this season in a three-team meet at Kasson-Mantorville on Friday, April 15. Under sunny, warm and windy conditions, the both Panther squads finished second to Red Wing, with the host KoMets coming in third in both standings.
The Panthers finished just six points behind the Wingers in the boys’ competition, taking second with 61 points to 67 for Red Wing.

Boys’ golf swings into season

The Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ golf team got its season started at home on Thursday, April 14, taking to the familiar links of Glencoe Country Club on a sunny and windy afternoon for the Wright County Conference West opener.
“It was really windy,” coach Chad Koenen said. “The winds were gusting to 20-30 mph at times. It made for quite a challenge.”
