Track and field teams open in Mankato

Safely tucked away indoors as winter attempted to hold on outside, the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ and girls’ track and field teams were able to successfully commence their season on Thursday, April 7, at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
It was a gripping beginning to the 2016 campaign for both squads, with the boys finishing in a first-place tie with Mankato Loyola/Cleveland and the girls finishing in second, just one point behind Waterville-Elysian-Morristown.

Softball looking to rebound, contend for WCC West title

With four weeks of practice, mostly indoors, the Glencoe-Silver Lake softball team is ready to bust out and compete.
“There’s only so much you can do without getting in some games to see what you need to work on,” coach Steve Davis said. “It’s time to play.”

Girls’ track is working hard

As weeks of practices have gone by, Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ track and field coach Robb DeCorsey is sure of one thing: his team has a strong work ethic.
“Girls have been working really hard,” he said. “I’ve been very impressed.”
Now, it is just a matter of whether hard work will pay off. The team’s season began with a second-place finish at Mankato last week. But, the coach said that before we know it, the season will be over.

Defending conference champ boys’ track team back for more

“We’d like to be in a position to contend for the conference title again this year,” coach Josh Metcalf said. “Like always, we’d like to continue to improve as the season goes along and be performing our best at the conference, subsection and section meets.”
