Panthers baseball runs record to 13-1

With four more victories, the Glencoe-Silver Lake baseball team continued to blitzkrieg its spring schedule, running its record to 13-1 as this week began.

The Panthers topped a trio of Wright County Conference West opponents to run its circuit record to 10-1 and overwhelmed a Section 5AA competitor to remain a perfect 8-0 against sectional squads.

County Board unanimously adopts trails plan

The McLeod County Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted its proposed trails plan after hearing nearly two hours of testimony at a public hearing Tuesday morning.
 
Those in attendance raised a wide variety of topics, from funding to maintenance to whether condemnation or eminent domain processes will be used to acquire property for new trails.
 

City Council approves bond issue for Armstrong Avenue project financing

The Glencoe City Council approved the bond resolution for the 2016 Armstrong Avenue project at its regular meeting Monday night. 
 
Paul Donna of R.W. Baird presented the bond to the council. The total interest rate is 2.29 percent with a total cost of $4,025,000.
 
Donna explained the rate was a little higher because the market has been going up and down a lot recently. 
 

Ehrke returns to city in joint economic development/city center position

Dan Ehrke will be returning to work in the Glencoe community as the city’s new assistant city administrator--marketing and community development position. 
 
This new position will be a combination of the city center coordinating and economic development responsibilities. 
 
Previously, Ehrke served as the director of the Glencoe Chamber of Commerce for about eight years before leaving to work for Short Elliot Hendrickson (SEH). 

Ali-Skelton pleads guilty to lying, threat charges

bdul Raheem Ali-Skelton, 23, of Glencoe, pleaded guilty  to various charges in both federal and district court last week.
 
On Wednesday, April 27, Ali-Skelton entered an expected guilty plea to a charge that he had lied to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) regarding contact he had in 2015 with the terrorist organization ISIL, based in Syria.
