Bruins drop three straight

The Brownton Bruins have lost their last three games in Crow River Valley League play, sandwiching a 12-2 setback at Plato on Wednesday, May 25 with an 8-2 at Waconia two nights earlier and a 2-0 defeat against Watertown on Monday, May 30.

Starting pitcher Dylan McCormick took the loss versus both Waconia and Watertown, with Ryan Grams taking the loss against Plato.

Jason Rosenau and Deryk Randt each scored against Waconia, with Bryce Lindeman collecting both of the RBI. Grams claimed two of the four hits the Bruins were able to muster up in the contest.

Boys' golf season comes to a close

The 2016 season came to a close for the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ golf team on Friday, May 27, as none of the Panther individuals made the cut after the first round of play in the Section 2AA Tournament.

Jayden Lachermeier missed the Day One cut of 91 by the narrowest of margins, carding a 92 over 18 holes at New Prague Golf Course.

Dylan Schuth finished his GSL golf career with a 93, with Christian Higgins posting a 94.

GSL sending several to section title meet

On a sparkling afternoon and evening at Stevens Seminary Stadium, the Glencoe-Silver Lake track and field teams saw several of their members advance to within one step of state with qualifying performances in the Section 2A Subsection 8 meet on Thursday, May 26.

The top four individuals and best two relay teams in each event advance to the Section 2A championship meet, which is scheduled to be held at Mankato West High School on Saturday.
