Regional play-ins take place this week

While Plato gets to relax this week given its No. 1 seed, both Glencoe and Brownton will be fighting for their postseason lives as the Region 7C Tournament play-in series begin this week.
The Bruins, which claimed the No. 9 seed in the final regional standings, are scheduled to open their play-in series at eighth-seeded Watertown at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The best-of-three series is slated to continue with the venue switching to Brownton for a 7:30 p.m. contest on Friday.

Brewers enter playoffs having lost five of six

July has not been a kind month for the Glencoe Brewers.
Having entered the month with a 12-9 overall record that included its forfeit victory against Norwood, Glencoe lost five of six games in July to close out the regular season with a 13-14 overall record and a 9-9 mark in the final Crow River Valley League (CRVL) standings.

Bruins lose twice to close out regular season

A pair of losses – one in-league, one out – brought the regular season to an end for the Brownton Bruins last week, though the squad didn’t go down without a fight in its Crow River Valley League (CRVL) finale at Green Isle on Sunday, July 24.
Four days after losing 10-0 to visiting Chaska, Brownton trailed the host Irish 9-0 heading into the eighth inning of their concluding CRVL clash before this week’s Region 7C playoffs begin.

Plato win streak hits two months

At one point early this season, the defending state Class C champion Plato Blue Jays had a rather slight 4-3 overall record.
That was on May 25, after Plato dropped a 4-2 decision to Green Isle at Blue Jay Stadium.
