Primary election draws few voters

Turnout for Minnesota’s primary election Tuesday, Aug. 9, was just about 7 percent of registered voters.
McLeod County did slightly better than the rest of the state, with a turnout of 8.8 percent of its eligible voters.

What does Congress need? Attention

Now that the conventions are over, I know that all eyes are on the fall presidential campaign. But I’m going to ask you to shift your focus a bit, to Congress. Don’t do it as a favor to me. Do it as a favor to the country.

Kudos to Glencoe for its great city park system

Just a quick kudos to the Glencoe Park Board, park employees, the City Council and, of course, the citizens of Glencoe for the fine park system and the camper sites which we can all enjoy in the fine city of Glencoe.

As summer winds down, DWI patrolling steps up

Labor Day weekend is a final hurrah to the fun of a Minnesota summer. The Glencoe Police Department, Winsted Police Department, Brownton Police Department, McLeod County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol will be helping keep Minnesotans safe as they travel and celebrate the final weeks of summer. Law enforcement statewide will be taking drunk drivers off the road as part of the extra DWI enforcement campaign Aug. 19-Sept. 5.
