Grace Bible Church to celebrate 125th

On Sunday, Sept. 18, the Grace Bible Church of Silver Lake will have its 125th anniversary celebration.
The special day will include a 9:30 a.m. worship service, a catered meal beginning at 11:30 a.m., and a one-hour special celebration program beginning at 1:30 p.m., which will conclude with a dove release, followed by coffee and cake. The public is invited to attend. Those interested in making reservations for the meal can do so through the church website: www.silverlakehurch.org.

Stewart City Council reviews bids for new north access road

The Stewart City Council received six bids for its proposed north access connector road been County Road 7 and Form-A-Feed.
Andy Kehren, engineer with Bolton & Menk, presented the bid information to the council Monday night.
Kehren said the new road was bid as both a base bid for just the road, and with an alternate to provide a passing lane and turn lane as requested by McLeod County.
The total bids, with both the base and the alternate, ranged from $793,077 to over $1 million said Kehren.

Brownton City Council signs contract for project funding

The Brownton City Council finally signed its contract with Rural Development of the United States Department of Agriculture for funding for its proposed $8.4 million street, utility and facility improvement project.
John Rodeberg of Short Elliott Hendrickson (SEH), the city’s consulting engineering firm, told the City Council Sept. 6 that Rural Development and SEH had come to a compromise on the expected engineering fees for the project.

Gibbon man hurt in 3-vehicle accident

A Gibbon man was injured in a three-vehicle accident in Hutchinson Wednesday, Sept. 7. The accident was reported at 4:09 p.m.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, two Ford pickups were stopped on Highway 15 at the South Grade Road intersection when a 2003 Jeep Liberty, driven by Jack R. Brueggemeier, 20, of New Germany, rear-ended one of the pickups, pushing it into the other pickup.
