What will it take to reduce accidents?

Our local fire department, ambulance service and law enforcement personnel had the unenviable task of responding to two serious accident within two days last week — one resulting in a critical injury, the other in a fatality.
As if that weren’t enough, we also received news releases this past week detailing two fatal ATV accidents, one involving a rural Olivia man, the other involving a Green Isle man.
The first accident was reported Wednesday morning, Oct. 11, at about 7 a.m., and occurred at Highway 212 and Chandler Avenue.

Money should be used for educating students

To the Editor:
Thank you, Ken Polifka! I think your proposal is a win-win idea.
In the first place, why are we even discussing using $300,000 of school money, money that belongs to GSL students for their education.
Second, what difference does it make what Mr. Polifka does with the land; even privatley owned green space within the city limits should yield some tax revenue. The city would still have a say in its future use by permits, etc. I am sure Mr. Polifka is not going to use it to dump waste or blight.
