Girls' hoops season hits a snag

On the heels of a four game winning streak, the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ basketball team lost both of its games last week to drop to 12-9 overall and 5-4 in Wright County Conference West play. 
The Panthers opened last week with a 70-63 loss to visiting New London-Spicer on Tuesday, Jan. 31. 
GSL led the 2016 state finalists 25-20 at the break after a buzzer-beating three-pointer from guard Miah Monahan. 

Panther gymnasts earn season high

As the regular season nears its end, the Glencoe-Silver Lake gymnastics team is approaching the top of its game. 
In a triangular meet against Delano and host Litchfield on Thursday, Feb. 2, the Panthers recorded their season-high score of 122.225. The score topped their previous high of 121.225, set on Jan. 13.
Gia Venier led GSL with an all-around score of 32.150, posting an 8.7 on vault, 8.325 on floor exercise, 8.275 on balance beam and 6.850 on uneven bars. 

Boys’ hoops claims another WCC split

It was a little bit of déjà vu for the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ basketball team last week as the Panthers lost their second consecutive 72-71 game before closing out the week with a victory. 
Coming off a 72-71 loss at Rockford on Friday, Jan. 27, the Panthers lost by the exact same score at New London-Spicer on Tuesday, Jan. 31. 

Panther matmen claim first three wins of season

It hasn’t been the easiest of seasons for the Glencoe-Silver Lake/Lester Prairie wrestling team, but the Panthers found their roar last week with the team’s first three meet wins of the season. 
GSL competed in a multi-team meet at Mound Westonka on Thursday, Feb. 2. 
After falling to the hosts 43-24 in their first dual of the evening, the Panthers claimed their inaugural dual victory of the year with a 42-37 defeat of Edina.
