Leonard George Pikal, 94, of Glencoe, formerly of Brownton, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 27, at the Dobratz-Hantge Chapel in Hutchinson with the Rev. R. Allan Reed officiating. Dawn Wolter was the organist. Congregational hymns were  “Just As I Am,” “Amazing Grace” and “In the Garden.”

Brian Wayne Schwarze, 53, Brownton

Brian Wayne Schwarze, 53, of Brownton, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Divine Home Care in Hutchinson.
He was born June 24, 1963, at the Hutchinson hospital. He was the son of Wayne nad Gerrie Schwarze. He was confirmed in Glencoe and graduated from Glencoe High School in 1981.

Clare Ann Peterson, 73, of Silver Lake

Clare Ann “Little One” Peterson, 73, of Silver Lake, died peacefully at St. Cloud Hospital on Friday, March 17, 2017.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 25, at St. Wenceslaus Church in New Prague with Deacon Bob Wagner officiating.

Silver Lake hits snags with obtaining derelict buildings

The city of Silver Lake has run into a couple of obstacles in the process of tearing down four buildings on Main Street.
At its meeting on Monday, March 20, the City Council heard that the city didn’t receive the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) loan that it had applied for. The loan would have provided funds for the demolition of the buildings with a low-interest loan with the possibility of forgiveness if the site was redeveloped within a certain time frame.

Girl born to Glencoe couple

Joyce Gamble and Daniel Campbell of Glencoe announce the arrival of a daughter, Amora Lynn Marie Campbell, born Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Amora weighed 8-1⁄2 pounds and was 20-1⁄2 inches long at birth. She joins siblings Dominic and Raiden. Grandparents are Johnathon and Terrie Campbell of Lakeside, Montana.

Son born to Simons family

Mike and Amber Simons of Glencoe announce the arrival of a son, Dax Daniel Simons, born Friday, March 24, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Dax weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces, and was 20-1⁄2 inches long at birth. He joins siblings Eden and Jorie. Grandparents are Patti Simons of Glencoe, Shari and Matt Chan of Renville, and Tim and Shelly Collins of Lino Lakes.

Raymond Draeger, 70, of Glencoe, formerly of Brownton, died Monday, March 27, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.
