Two dreaded words: budget cuts

They have to be two of the most hated and dreaded words that politicians at all levels have to face: budget cuts.
Those words came up at Monday night’s Glencoe-Silver Lake School Board meeting, and they were met with predictable reluctance and resistance.
The school district has been fortunate the past several years in that even when the budget has not balanced between revenues and expenditures, the school could dip into its reserves to cover any deficits, thereby preserving — and even increasing — educational programming.

Legislators need to hear from farmers

While anticipation grows for farmers looking forward to another planting season, Minnesota legislators are making headway at the capitol on the new state budget. But before many of the major decisions are made, legislators will take a one-week break beginning April 7 to meet with local constituents and recharge. It is the perfect time for people in Greater Minnesota to make their voices heard.

Goal for April 26 Glencoe blood drive is 122 units

The first Glencoe Community Blood Drive of 2017 is scheduled for Wednesday, April 26, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Glencoe City Center Ballroom. The American Red Cross (ARC) has set our goal at 122 units for this blood drive.
