Panther golf teams swing into season

The Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ golf team got its season started last week with a pair of meets on the road as the squad prepares to host an invitational contest on Thursday.

The Panthers opened their spring schedule with a scramble in Litchfield on Thursday, April 6. GSL, fielding five golfers, put together a two Panther pairings and also teamed up with Benson for a third duo.

GSL track and field sweeps at Mankato

It was a joyful start to the spring season for the Glencoe-Silver Lake track and field teams as both the Panther boys and girls won their respective competitions at the WEM Indoor Invite at Minnesota State University in Mankato on Tuesday, April 11.

The GSL girls eked out a nailbiter, topping Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial by just three points 108.5-105.5 for first place. The Panther boys had a slightly more comfortable victory, taking first place by 17 points with an even 100 points on the night.

GSL goes 1-2 in opening week

After nearly winning its season opener before falling in extra innings, the Glencoe-Silver Lake softball team did claim a pair of one-run wins to open this week with a 2-1 overall record.

The Panthers rallied from a 2-0 second-inning deficit against visiting Watertown-Mayer in the season opener on Tuesday, April 11, taking a 4-2 lead in the middle frames. However, the Royals rallied and sent the game into an added stanza, where they clinched the win over their hosts.

Panthers go on a tear

The Glencoe-Silver Lake baseball team claimed the first three wins of its young season over the past week, defeating Litchfield and Maple Lake.

With the wins, the Panthers sprung back above the .500 mark after dropping their season opener to Hutchinson.
