Brownton opens season with win

The Brownton Bruins opened the spring season in fine form by means of a 6-2 win at Gaylord on Sunday, April 23. 
Starting pitcher Josh Wendlandt earned the win with two scoreless innings of work, leaving the mound with a 4-0 lead before five relievers scattered two runs over the final seven innings of the contest.

Brewers victory taps into spring

Five pitchers combined on a one-hitter as the Glencoe Brewers got the season off to a triumphant start in a 10-0 defeat of Montrose-Waverly in seven innings on Saturday, April 22, at Vollmer Field.
Starting pitcher Jaime Paumen earned the win with two innings on the hill, allowing no baserunners and striking out one batter. Justin Erkenbrack, Tanner Grack, Stephen Wiblemo and Colt Trebesch combined to toss the next five frames, allowing just one hit and one walk combined. 

Panthers proving to be road warriors

The Glencoe-Silver Lake track and field teams continued their road trip last week by competing in meets at New London-Spicer on Tuesday, April 18, and Foley on Friday, April 21.
Both the Panther boys’ and girls’ teams took first at the NL-S meet. Individual results were not available.
At Foley, GSL took on several top squads from middle Minnesota, with the boys finishing fifth and the girls taking sixth.

Girls' golf hosts meet

The Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ golf team finished sixth in the second Wright County Conference West meet of the season at Burl Oaks Golf Club in Minnetrista on Tuesday, April 18. 
Grace Kosek led the Panthers with a nine-hole score of 55, good for 15th place overall. Aubrey Giesen carded a 60 for 23rd, while Kenady Rosckes shot a 64 and Ellie Schmidt a 71 for 31st and 40th.

Busy week for boys' golfers

It was a chilly afternoon at Glencoe Country Club on Thursday, April 20, as the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ golf team hosted an 18-role invitational meet. 
The Panthers finished fourth overall with a team score of 404, led by Jayden Lachermeier’s 96. Christian Higgins and Reid VanHove each scored a 99, with Ethan Wraspir posting a 110, Damien Silus a 111 and Nick Schmidt a 117.

Panther softball wins two more

In spite of suffering its most lopsided loss of the season to end a three-game winning streak, it was still a largely successful stretch for the Glencoe-Silver Lake softball team last week. 
The Panthers went 2-1 overall, sandwiching the heavy loss at Dassel-Cokato with a pair of satisfying wins against Mound Westonka and Holy Family Catholic. 

Panther baseball rebounds with two wins after loss

What happens when your winning streak comes to an end? Start a new one.
That’s what the Glencoe-Silver Lake baseball team did last week. 
The Panthers saw a three-game winning streak come to a close with a 4-1 loss to Mound Westonka on Tuesday, April 18, but then swiftly started a new happy run with wins over Dassel-Cokato and Annandale to close out the week.
