Norman Rosenow graduates

Norman Rosenow, Glencoe, earned both his Associate of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in engineering management from the Grantham University online degree program. Grantham University is based in Lenexa, Kansas. Rosenow graduated in March.

Son for Jeff, Amy McKay

Jeff and Amy McKay of Hutchinson announce the arrival of a son, Jayce Jeffrey McKay, born Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Jayce weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces, and was 19 inches long at birth. He joins a brother, Jayden. Grandparents are Barb  and the late Jim Hartl of Glencoe and Jim and Karen McKay of Hutchinson. Great-grandparents are Tom and Delores Stafford of Hutchinson.

Glencoe Historic Preservation Society to host quilt show

The Glencoe Historic Preservation Society (GHPS) will host a quilt show Saturday, May 6, at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
The show will feature more than 130 quilts plus a number of wall hangings and table runners. Quilts new and old will be featured.
The McLeod County Historical Society will be providing a number of quilts from its collection including:

Martha Clara Bertha Ditch, 98, Crystal

Martha Clara Bertha (Harmel) Ditch, 98, formerly of Crystal, died April 10, 2017.
A private family graveside service was held at Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis.
She was born Oct. 20, 1918, in Glencoe, to Gustav and Emma (Rothmann) Harmel as the youngest in a German-speaking family. Her family emigrated from Posen, Germany, in 1899. Her father was from Jankendorf and her mother was from Kletzko.
She was a long-time member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church and later attended Grace Church, Edina.

Pearl L. Kloempken, 90, of Glencoe

Pearl Lillian (Franck) Kloempken, 90, of Glencoe, died Friday, April 14, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, April 24, at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe with the Rev. Anthony Stubeda officiating. Sue Mielke was the organist and Mackenzie Kloempken was the song leader. Musical selections were “Gather Us In,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Here I Am, Lord,” “The Servant Song” and “Song of Farewell.”
