MCPA hosts annual meeting

The members of McLeod Cooperative Power Association gathered for the 82nd annual meeting of the cooperative on Tuesday, April 11, at the Hutchinson Event Center. About 390 members and guests attended the meeting and were served a roast beef dinner.
Three directors were elected for a three-year term each: Oria Brinkmeier of Lester Prairie, Joe Griebie of Brownton, and David Resch of Glencoe were elected to serve Districts 1, 2 and 3, respectively.  

Law enforcement campaign to focus on distracted driving

Reaching down for an item that fell on the floor, turning around to settle the kids down, and picking up the cell phone for an incoming call. They all seem harmless until a driver with their eyes off the road leads to a crash.
Too many people are dying on Minnesota roads because drivers are not 100 percent committed to keeping their eyes on the road. In 2015, distracted driving contributed to 7,666 injuries and 74 deaths in the state.

County’s human resources director resigns

McLeod County Human Resources Director Mary Jo Wieseler has resigned her position.
At Tuesday’s County Board meeting, during the administrative report, County Administrator Pat Melvin reported that his department had been exceptionally busy since Wieseler’s resignation.
It was not disclosed when she resigned, nor the reason behind the resignation.
The County Board planned to discuss the vacancy at a workshop session later Tuesday afternoon.

UWMC lists partner agencies, programs

United Way of McLeod County (UWMC) Board President Ron Johnson announced last week that the regional nonprofit will collaborate with 32 agencies and programs in 2017. The organization recently completed its community investment review for the 2017 funding cycle.
