Blue Jays nip mini-skid in the bud

The Plato Blue Jays nipped their second two-game losing streak of the season square in the bud by claiming a pair of weekend wins.

After coming up on the short end of a 4-1 loss at Watertown on Wednesday, June 21 – a loss that dropped Plato to 7-6 overall on the season – the Blue Jays fought back to win 3-0 at Carver on Saturday, June 24, before rallying for a 4-3 home win over Young America the next evening.

Busy week for Post 641

The Plato American Legion Post 641 baseball team saw their share of the ballpark over the last week, with six games jammed into a six-day stretch from Wednesday, June 21, through Monday, June 26.

Plato began the run by suffering its first loss of the season in a 9-0 setback against visiting Watertown. Spencer Lepel logged Plato’s lone hit of the game in the shutout loss.

As quiet as Post 641’s bats were against Watertown, they exploded against St. Peter in the opening game of the Andyman Tournament in Young America on Friday, June 23.

Brewers win at Glencoe Days

Brody Bratsch’s two-out RBI single plated Travis Rothstein with the winning run as the Glencoe Brewers rallied to defeat visiting Brownton 3-2 as the teams matched up at Glencoe Days on Friday, June 23.

The two teams were locked in a scoreless pitcher’s duel through five innings before Brownton broke through with two runs in the top of the sixth against Glencoe starter Jaime Paumen.
