Graduate from Normandale

Locals named to dean’s list


Normandale Community College announces its spring 2017 semester dean’s list: from Glencoe, Anna Marijke Nelson; and from Plato, Phoenix Dalos and Briel Steen.
 

Burr named to dean’s list


Victoria Burr, of Glencoe, a senior at Bethel University and daughter of Bryan and Stacie Burr, was named to the dean’s list for academic excellence for the spring 2017 semester.  The dean’s list honors students who achieve an outstanding scholastic record during a semester with a grade point average of 3.6 or greater.

 

Kuehn named to dean’s list


Madeline Kuehn of Plato was named to the 2017 spring semester dean’s list at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Kuehn is a first-year student at Luther College.
 

Lemke named to dean’s list


Christopher Lemke of Glencoe was named to the Augsburg College dean’s list for the 2017 spring semester. Lemke is the son of Jonathan and Mary Lemke and is double majoring in biology and chemistry. He is involved in football, the Football Leadership Council, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Tri-Beta. The dean’s list recognizes full-time students who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and part-time students who have achieved a grade point average of 3.75 or higher.

Amber Chmielewski of Glencoe has been named to the  St. Cloud State University spring semester dean’s list. Chmielewski is pursuing a Master of Arts in rhetoric and writing.

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls spring semester dean’s list includes, from Glencoe, Daniel Raiter, chemistry; Josie Schmitt, biology; and Mary Schmitt, elementary eduation. To be named to the dean’s list, a full-time undergraduate student must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 of 4.0, or midway between an A and B average.
 

Named to president’s list


Brandon Schlagel of Silver Lake has earned recognition from St. Cloud Technical and Community College for achieving a grade point average of 4.0 during the spring 2017 semester.
 

Gustavus Adolphus dean’s list

The following local students were named to the spring dean’s list at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter: from Glencoe, Abigail Butler, Oakley Clark and Alyson Winn; and from Stewart, Jillian Driver. The list comprises students who have earned a 3.7 grade point average or higher for the semester ending in May 2017.
 

Silver Lake City Council offers clerk job to liquor store manager

The Silver Lake City Council voted Thursday night to offer the city clerk job to Jon Jerabek, currently the manager of the municipal liquor store. The offer is contingent on a clean background check, which will be conducted by the Silver Lake Police Department. Jerabek has indicated he will take the position, according to Deputy Clerk Kristi Mesenbrink. Police Chief RJ Cripps said it will take about a week to conduct the background check.
