Brewers battling to finish .500 in CRVL

A split of its two post-Independence Day games gave the Glencoe Brewers an 11-8 overall record entering this week. 
The Brewers opened their weekend with a 4-3 win against visiting Cologne on Friday, July 7. 
Glencoe took the lead for good as Colt Trebesch and Teddy Petersen both scored in the opening inning. Brody Bratsch knocked in Derek Weber with an RBI single in the fifth, before Weber drove in Cameron Chap in the sixth.

Bruins win three straight

A five-game losing streak came to an end in a most unusal way for the Brownton Bruins, as the team was awarded a forfeit victory against visiting St. Boni on Friday, June 30.
The Bruins claimed what goes in the book as a 9-0 win after the Saints were engaged in team behaviors that resulted in the termination of the contest after Seth Schuette, Ryan Grams and Josh Dietz reached base to begin the bottom of the first inning.

Post 641 heads into district playoffs

The Plato American Legion Post 641 baseball team triumphantly returned to action after a long holiday layoff with a 6-2 defeat of visiting Sibley East on Monday, July 10.
Starting pitcher Alex Troska struck out seven while walking four and allowing one hit over five innings to earn the win. Korey Johnson tossed the final two innings in relief, striking out two, walking two and allowing one hit. Both pitchers gave up one unearned run.

Plato winning streak ends

It was an up-and-down weekend for the Plato Blue Jays, as the squad scored a big win followed by a disappointing loss in back-to-back games at Bluejay Stadium.
The quick roller coaster followed Plato’s 6-4 win over Hamburg at Norwood on Wednesday, July 5. It was the fifth win in a row for the Blue Jays, who rallied from a 4-2 deficit in the top of the fifth for the victory.

Post 5102 busts out the lumber

Three straight post-Independence Day wins have given the Glencoe VFW Post 5102 baseball team a 13-6 overall record heading into the final two games of the regular season.
Glencoe closed out the weekend by claiming a doubleheader sweep against Becker at Vollmer Field on Sunday, July 9. 
Starting pitcher Joe Knudten earned the win in the opener with six innings of four-hit, three-strikeout work in a 12-5 victory. Knudten also went 3-for-4 at the plate as Glencoe banged out 16 hits in all.
