Brewers fall to Cardinals and Blue Jays

A pair of setbacks last week dropped the Glencoe Brewers to 11-10 overall this season as the team heads into the final trio of regular season games looking to squelch its current three-game losing streak. 
Young America dropped a 5-1 loss on the Brewers on Tuesday, July 11 at Vollmer Field, propelling itself to victory via a four-run second inning despite being out-hit by the hosts 7-6.

Plato pounds a pair of opponents

After suffering a frustrating loss to end the previous weekend, the Plato Blue Jays took it out on a pair of Crow River Valley League rivals as part of a clean sweep of this past weekend’s three-game set.
Plato opened the stretch with a 13-5 thumping of host Winsted on Friday, July 14. Jake VonBerge, Tyler Lang and Nolan Lepel each notched a pair of RBI, with Chris Odegaard scoring three runs while Matt Odegaard and Mitch Boesche scored twice apiece.

Post 641 still alive in district playoffs

The Plato American Legion Post 641 baseball team remained alive in the Third District Division II Tournament after going 2-1 in the opening weekend of the playoffs in Waterville and Montgomery. 
Plato opened with a win and a loss on Saturday, July 15, before downing a familiar foe the next day to advance to the final brackets of tournament play this weekend.

Post 5102 heads into sub-districts

The Glencoe VFW Post 5102 baseball team closed out its regular season with a pair of losses, falling to the Hutch 16’s and Dassel as the team now prepares for the playoffs.
In a game played at Barney Tadsen Field in Brownton on Thursday, July 13, Glencoe dropped an 18-6 decision to the visitors from Hutchinson, despite three RBI from Andrew Wraspir. Bennett Lepel also added an RBI for 5102.
