Blue Jays win third, fourth in a row

It’s four wins in a row and counting for the Plato Blue Jays, as the squad closed out the month of June with back-to-back shutout victories.

Plato split the difference with Brownton on location, but not on the scoreboard as the Blue Jays claimed a 10-0 win over the Bruins on Wednesday, June 28 at Vollmer Field in Glencoe.

Brownton nearly took an early lead in the contest by putting two runners in scoring position with one out in the top of the first inning, but came up empty.

Brewers top New Germany for 10th win

A 7-6 win over visiting New Germany on Thursday, June 29, returned the Glencoe Brewers to the win column and gave the squad its 10th win of the year as the calendar now turns to the final month of the regular season.

The game played out as a back-and-forth struggle, with the visitors leading 4-2 after the top of the seventh.

However, Glencoe busted out the bats in the bottom of that frame to score five runs and seize the lead for good at 7-4.

Post 641 drops three straight to wrap up June

The Plato American Legion Post 641 baseball team went 0-3 last week, dropping one game at Watertown and a doubleheader against Holy Family.

Plato’s week began with a 6-2 setback against Watertown on Wednesday, June 28. The hosts took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, before Post 641 battled back to score a pair of runs in the top of the third.
