Born-and-raised Minnesota author, Mindy Mejia visited the Sexy Women Can Read (SWCR) book club at Gert & Erma’s Thursday, June 29, to talk about her newest thriller novel, “Everything You Want Me To Be,” which takes place in Southern Minnesota.

Elsie Graupmann is the recipient of an Excellence Scholarship at Concordia College in Moorhead. Graupmann, a graduate of Glencoe-Silver Lake High School, is the daughter of John and Ann Graupmann of Plato.
 

Mercy Rakow graduates

Mercy Ruth Rakow of Silver Lake graduated from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, with a Bachelor of Science in applied health science in May. Rakow graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Science.

Tyann and Timothy Miller of Glencoe announce the birth of a daughter, Wren Kennedy Miller, who arrived June 23, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Wren weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 19 inches long at birth. She is welcomed home by her siblings, Wyatt and Weston.
 

Clay Coyote chosen for inclusion in Super Bowl business resource guide

The Clay Coyote Gallery and Pottery of Hutchinson was recently selected by the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee to be included in the Super Bowl 52 Business Connect Resource Guide.


4-H’ers attended regional camp

The 2017 Regional 4-H Camp is a unique camping opportunity for youth who have completed third through sixth grade. The camp was held at the University of Minnesota – Morris campus June 20-22. There were 112 youth from 15 counties participating in the annual 4-H Camp. In addition, 27 teenage youth who were trained to be camp counselors, provided leadership during camp.


Raymond R. Dreier, 82, of Glencoe

Raymond Robert Dreier, 82, of Glencoe, died peacefully on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Interment will be held at a later date.


Edward Chmielewski, 68, of Glencoe

Edward J. Chmielewski, 68, of Glencoe, died Sunday, June 25, 2017, at the Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Center in Minneapolis.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, June 29, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with the Rev. Anthony Stubeda as the celebrant.
Casket bearers were Jeff Chmielewski, Cory Chmielewski, Tanner Chmielewski, Zac Hindermann, Josh Coon and Ryan Kottke. Interment with military rites was in the St. Adalbert Cemetery in Silver Lake.
