Wilkens , Misuraca wed

Brittany Wilkens and James Misuraca were married June 24, 2017, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Plato with the Rev. Brian Brosz officiating.
Brittany is the daughter of Mark and Lois Wilkens of Plato and James is the son of Anna Disco of Fridley.
Bailey Wilkens was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Sara Schreifels, Kelly Riemenschneider, Jolene Phillips and Kathryn Joy.
Cody Misuraca was the best man. Groomsmen were Jonathan Misuraca, Stephan Chan, Aaron Olsen, Jamie Jude and Spencer Macdonald.

UWMC elects new officers for 2017-18

The United Way of McLeod County (UWMC) announced last week the election of Steve Synstelien, to replace outgoing Board President Ron Johnson. Additionally, Rachel Schrempp was elected vice president, while Sherry Lund was elected secretary at a recent board meeting. The newly elected officials began serving their terms effective July 1.

Edna Hulda Stark, 85, of Winthrop

Edna Stark, 85, of Winthrop, died Wednesday, July 28, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Aug. 1, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bismarck Township, Sibley County, with the Rev. Erik Karlson officiating. Lori Radtke was the organist. Congregational hymns were “I’m But a Stranger Here,” “Abide With Me,” “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace.”
Honorary casket bearers were Duane Leske and Gerald Schuette. Casket bearers were Cody Guenther, Tom Bode, Jason Miller, Samuel Morsching, Delayne Pagel and Kaelen Kosse.

Constance P. Tesch, 94, of Waconia

Constance P. Tesch, 94, of Waconia, died Monday, July 24, 2017, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 28, at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia with the Rev. Bob Alsleben officiating.
Honorary casket bearers were her great-grandchildren. Casket bearers were Stephen Tesch, Scott Tesch, Randy Draeger and Neil Frahm. Interment was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Waconia.

Wendell B. Siewert, 83, of Oklahoma

Wendell B. Siewert, 83, of Enid, Oklahoma, died July 20, 2017, in Enid.
A celebration of life service was held Tuesday, July 25, at Graceway Baptist Church with the Revs. Kevin Strope and Craig Bruyn.
Wendell Siewert was born July 21, 1933, in Glencoe, to Carl and Ilo (Jungclaus) Siewert. He grew up in Glencoe and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree with distinction in business administration.

Myrtice B.L. Rannow, 96, of Glencoe

Myrtice “Myrt” Bernice Lilly (Tessmer) Rannow, 96, of Glencoe, died Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Grand Meadows Senior Living in Glencoe.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 27, at Church of Peace in Glencoe with the Rev. Richard Fylling officiating. Lynn Reinitz was the pianist. Soloist Meghan Walsh sang “Amazing Grace.” Sharon Remien shared memories. Readers were Danny Walsh, Isaiah 40:23-31, and Michael Kvasnicka, Psalms 121. Congregational hymns were “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “How Great Thou Art.”

Amy Alsleben, 62, of Claremont, S.D.

Amy Joan Alsleben, 62, of Claremont, South Dakota, died Thursday, July 27, 2017, at her home.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 31, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, South Dakota, with the Revs. Samuel Bobby and Josiah J. Fitch officiating.
Honorary casket bearer was Cody Blanchard. Casket bearers were Dakota Boese, Rory Haar, Kary Haar, Paul Haar, Glenn Evenson and Shaun Serr. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Melcherts announce son’s birth

Derek and Ashley Melchert of Brownton announce the arrival of a boy, Braxton Joseph Melchert, born July 29, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Braxton weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 191⁄4 inches in length. He is welcomed by his brother Jayden, and grandparents James and Kathy Schwalbe of New Auburn, Deborah Melchert of Peoria, Arizona, and Joyce Schwalbe of Des Moines, Iowa.

SDSU announces graduates

Daniel Kevin Cox of Glencoe and Brennen James Albrecht of Stewart graduated after the spring 2017 session at South Dakota State University. Cox graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and Albrecht graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the College of Agriculture and Biological Sciences.

The University of Minnesota Twin Cities has announced the dean’s list for the 2017 spring semester. Students from Glencoe include Michael Schaefer, freshman, College of Liberal Arts; from Plato, Kali Trukki, senior, Medical School; from Silver Lake, Faith Gnerer, senior, College of Education and Human Development, Zachery Jones, senior, Carlson School of Management, Ivy Nunvar, junior, College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences, and Lily Nunvar, freshman, College of Liberal Arts; and from Stewart, Lauren Schulze, junior, College of Liberal Arts.
