Posustas honored as grand marshals

Ron and Brenda Posusta may have been a little stunned to learn they had been chosen grand marshals of Silver Lake’s Pola-Czesky Days parade, but hardly anyone else was.
As Mayor Bruce Bebo said when he announced the grand marshals after the toilet bowl races Friday night, “if you don’t know who we’re talking about by now, you haven’t been around here very long.”

Prehn's perfecto pitches Plato back to state tournament

Twenty-seven batters up, 27 batters down – all in a day’s work for Adam Prehn.
Plato’s starting pitcher for the second round of the Region 7C Tournament on Sunday, Aug. 6, in New Germany, Prehn faced the challenging task of taking on Crow River Valley League North Division champion Waconia with a berth in the state tournament on the line.
In just under two hours time, Prehn finished his day with none of his 97 pitches accounting for a hit or a walk.
He had thrown a perfect game; the Blue Jays won 4-0.

Season's end for Bruins

Two agonizingly close losses at the Region 7C Tournament spelled the end of the season for the Brownton Bruins.
Brownton, which entered the regional bracket as an eighth seed on the strength of a playoff win over Glencoe, lost 3-1 to No. 1 seed Green Isle on Thursday, Aug. 3, before succumbing to fifth-seeded Young America three days later.
Playing at Waconia, Dylan McCormick pitched the opener for the Bruins against an Irish squad that had swept both games in the regular-season series between the teams.
