It was quite a debut for the new Glencoe-Silver Lake High School “Black” gymnasium as the Panther volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat visiting Belle Plaine in five sets (25-15, 23-25, 23-25, 25-23, 15-10) on Monday, Sept. 25.
The first varsity competition hosted in the new gym was a barnburner that saw both teams battle to grind out precious points on every serve.
“We preserved and that spoke volumes’ I’m just happy that the girls dug down and won the battle,” coach Lori Schwirtz said. “It is all about momentum, runs and doing the little things.”
