Silver Lake City Council awards demolition bid

The Silver Lake City Council awarded the bid for the demolition of four buildings on Main Street at a special meeting Thursday.
The low bid was received by US SiteWork of Elk River for $76,961.
The city received five bids ranging from the low US SiteWork bid to a high bid of $173,685. The projected cost was estimated at $110,000.
Paul Ragozzino, an architect from Short Elliot Hendrickson, Inc., checked the companies’ references and received good comments about all.
The bid includes asbestos abatement, demolition, grading and seeding.
A subcontractor will be used to handle the asbestos.

Son born to Baumanns

Carmen and Ryan Baumann of Lester Prairie announce the birth of their son, Brayden Alan Baumann, who arrived Nov. 3, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Brayden weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 211⁄2 inches long. He is welcomed by his sister Addalyn Baumann and grandparents, Jerry Hoese of Lester Prairie, Lynn Norby of Silver Lake and Mike and Beth Baumann of Mayer.

Schroepfer enrolled at SJU

Austin Schroepfer, son of James and Loreen Schroepfer of Glencoe, has enrolled at Saint John’s University in Collegeville for the 2017-2018 academic year. Classes for fall semester began Monday, Aug. 28.

Diane Joy Norstrom, 76, of Brainerd

Diane Joy (Stenberg) Norstrom, 76, of Brainerd, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at Essentia – St. Joseph’s Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m., at Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd with the Rev. Justin Halbersma officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.

Frieda R. Hennessey, 87, of Glencoe

Frieda Ruth (Fischer) Hennessey, 87, of Glencoe, died Nov. 2, 2017, at her home.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 6, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe with the Rev. Daniel Welch officiating. Dawn Wolter was the organist. Congregational hymns were “Amazing Grace,” “On Eagle’s Wings” and “Abide With Me.”
Casket bearers were Wayne Hennessey, Joshua Hennessey, Michael Hennessey, Randy Thiel, Julane Breems and Dennis Fischer. Interment was in the church cemetery.
