Jacob Schwarze, 35, of Stewart

Jacob Schwarze, 35, of Stewart, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, at his home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 4, 11 a.m., at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Hutchinson, with spring interment at Sumter Cemetery, Sumter Township.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Boys’ hoopsters conclude 2018 with holiday tourney

A win and a loss in its holiday tournament game the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ basketball team a 6-4 record as it heads into the second full month of the season.
The Panthers opened holiday tournament play by fending off a scrappy effort from Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity, defeating the Bulldogs 51-38 on Thursday, Dec. 27.
Guard Reece Schwirtz led GSL with 12 points as the hosts built a 25-20 halftime lead on their way to a 13-point win. Forward Gage Alsleben and guard Mitchel Klockmann posted nine points apiece in the victory.

Girls’ cagers host, place second in tournament

With a runner-up appearance in its own holiday tournament, the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ basketball team concluded the first month of its season with a 5-4 record.
The Panthers went 1-1 in tournament play, defeating Belle Plaine 67-46 on Thursday, Dec. 27, before falling 66-39 to Holy Family the next day.
GSL opened the tourney in fine fashion, taking a 36-13 halftime lead on the visiting Tigers before cruising to the 21-point win.
Guard Miah Monahan led the hosts with 18 points, while backcourt mates Alison Kettner and Olivia Lemke recorded 15 points apiece.

Gary Hasse, age 63, of Green Isle, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, in rural Lester Prairie.

Mayor Wilson called the regular meeting of the city council to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present: Schrupp, Alexander, Robeck, Neid and Ziemer. Also present: City Administrator Mark Larson, City Attorney Ostlund, Finance Director Trippel, Ass’t City Administrator Ehrke, PWDs Schreifels and Voigt, Police Chief Raiter.
Motion to approve consent agenda as presented entered by member Robeck, second by member Neid. All members voted in favor.
