Woman, two men killed in two-vehicle crash Monday

Three people were killed in a two-vehicle crash near northeast of Stewart Monday night.
The crash occurred just before 11 p.m. near the intersection of McLeod County Road 7 and York Avenue. Wayne Bernier Jr., 32, of Gaylord was traveling westbound on County Road 7 in a 2004 Ford Explorer with a passenger, Tiffany Dralle, 25, of Gibbon. Bruce Lentz, 60, of Stewart was heading eastbound in a 2010 Dodge Nitro when the two vehicles collided.
All three people were pronounced dead at the scene.

No need for tax increases with a surplus

Yesterday, state economists revealed that Minnesota is projected to have a budget surplus of $1.54 billion for the coming biennium. Officials said that the robust surplus is due to increased revenue and state spending that was lower than previously predicted. In addition to the projected surplus, the state’s budget reserve, or “rainy day fund,” has exceeded $2 billion for the first time in state history.
