Clark, Winn on Gustavus list

Oakley Clark and Alyson Winn, both of Glencoe, were named to the fall semester dean’s list at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. The list is comprised of students who have achieved a grade point average of 3.7 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Dittell, Lilienthal on dean’s list

Lisa Dittell, Brownton, and Tate Lilienthal, Glencoe, were both named to the fall semester dean’s list at St. Cloud State University. Dittell is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in community psychology, and Lilienthal is seeking a Bachelor of Science degree in communication arts and literature.

Son born to Lang family

Becky and Jeremy Lang of New Ulm announce the arrival of a son, Evan Riley Lang, born Feb. 20, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Riley weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces, and was 21 inches long at birth. He joins a brother, Ethan. Grandparents are Ronald and Linda Schrempp of Glencoe, Carol and Pat Haubrich of New Ulm and Dennis Lang and Lynn Towles, also of New Ulm.

Beraneks welcome new son

Lynn and Geoff Beranek of Gaylord announce the arrival of a son, Grayson Lee Beranek, born Feb. 21, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Grayson weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 22 inches long at birth. He joins a sister, Lyla. Grandparents are Gerald and Cindy Beranek of New Ulm and Jerald and Barb Zaske of Brownton.

Girl born to Ochs, Plihal

Christina Ochs and Tyler Plihal of Glencoe announce the birth of a daughter, Sienna Marie Plihal, who arrived Feb. 20, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Sienna weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 20 inches long at birth.

Mackenthuns welcome son

Valerie and Taylor Mackenthun of Hutchinson announce the birth of a son, Harrison David Mackenthun, who was born Jan. 21, 2018, at Hutchinson Health Hospital. Harrison weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 201⁄2 inches long at birth. He joins a sister, Hadley Rose Mackenthun. Grandparents are Dave and Michele Mackenthun of Glencoe and Rose Spicer of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. Great-grandparents are Eunice Mackenthun of Glencoe, Betty Benjamin of Hutchinson, and Sid and Jean Spicer of Pueblo, Colorado.

Area students on dean’s list

Several area students were among those named to the fall semester dean’s list at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. They include, from Glencoe: Yesenia Vega, a senior enrolled in the College of Science and Engineering; from Silver Lake: Zachery Jones, a senior enrolled in the Carlson School of Management, Jenna Lokensgard, a sophomore enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts, and Lily Nunvar, a sophomore enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts; and, from Stewart: Lauren Schulze, a sophomore enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts.

Lucille Micka, 92, of Buffalo

On Feb. 18, 2018, the Lord called and Lucille Micka accepted the invitation to be reunited with family and friends she had not seen in a long time.
A funeral Mass was held Monday, Feb. 26, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo.
She was born Feb. 25, 1925, in Winsted Township, the sixth child born to Bernard “Ben” Radtke and Loretta (Litfin) Radtke.

Inez Bertha Alsleben, 91, of Glencoe

Inez Bertha Alsleben, 91, of Glencoe, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 1, at 1:30 p.m., at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe with the Rev. Katherine Rood officiating. Twyla Kirkeby will be the organist. Soloist Katherine Grant will perform “The Old Rugged Cross.” Congregational hymns will be “How Great Thou Art,” “Rock of Ages” and “Old Rugged Cross.”

Myrtle Irene Anderson, 88, of Glencoe

Myrtle Irene Anderson, 88, of Glencoe, formerly of Jackson, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at her home at Orchard Estates in Glencoe.
A private family interment will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Jackson.
Myrtle Irene (Jensen) Anderson was born Aug. 26, 1929, in Jackson, to Otto and Mary Jensen. She was baptized as an infant at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, and was later confirmed in her faith there. She attended Jackson Public School.
