Locals graduate from college

Katlin Stockman, Melissa Mallak and Kacie Walker, all of Glencoe, all graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees in nursing from the College of St. Scholastica, Duluth, at the end of the fall semester. Commencement ceremonies were held Dec. 16.

Kuehn named to Luther list

Madeline Kuehn of Plato, a sophomore at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, has been named to the 2017 fall semester dean’s list. To be named to the list, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale and be enrolled for 12 credit hours.

Melvin G. Jungclaus, 86, of Glencoe

Melvin “Mel”  George Jungclaus, 86, of Glencoe, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe with the Rev. Jon Niebuhr officiating. Margie Hemmann was the organist. The Rev. Neibuhr sang “Amazing Grace.” Congregational hymns were “My Faith Looks Up to Thee,” “The Lord’s My Shepherd” and “I’m But a Stranger Here.”

Gilbert Dammann, 95, Everett, Wash.

Gilbert Dammann, 95, died peacefully Feb. 3, 2018, in Everett, Washington, just eight weeks after Madge, the only love of his life and his wife of 54 years.
A celebration of his life will be held March 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Light of the Cross Lutheran Church in Bothell, Washington. He will be interred at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood, Washington. Online condolences may be offered at www.floralhill

Diane Gale Heil, 73, of Brownton

Diane Heil, 73, of Brownton, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at her home.
Memorial services were held Friday, Feb. 16, at Grace Lutheran Church in Brownton with the Rev. Andrew Hermodson-Olsen officiating. Bev Wangerin was the organist. Soloist Rosine Hermodson-Olsen sang “How Great Thou Art.” Congregational hymns were “On Eagle’s Wings” and “Amazing Grace.”
Honorary urn bearers were Kaitlyn Kellerman and Kallamae Kellerman.

Benjamin E. Hoffman, 84, Spring Park

Benjamin “Ben” Edward Hoffman, 84, of Lake Minnetonka Shores in Spring Park, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 24, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., and a service at 11 a.m., at Lake Minnetonka Shores Chapel, 4515 Shoreline Drive, Spring Park. A light lunch will follow in the Court Atrium.

Martha Urban, 91, of Silver Lake

Martha Urban, 91, of Silver Lake, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at Cedar Crest in Silver Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with the Rev. Michael Doyle as the celebrant.
Casket bearers were Ross Konerza, Elise Konerza, Seth Mickolichek, Sara Wyffels, Matt Mickolichek and Will Mickolichek. Interment was in the Holy Family Cemetery.

Sandra K. Waldron, 72, of Hutchinson

Sandra Kay Waldron, 72, of Hutchinson, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Prairie Senior Cottages in Hutchinson.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 16, at Christ The King Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with the Revs. Mark Richardson, Jon Lindekugel and Steve Olcott officiating. Bonnie Westmiller was the organist. Soloist Jim Wendling sang “The Lord’s Prayer.” Congregational hymns were “My God and I” and “Children of the Heavenly Father.” Special music was Vince Gill’s “Go Rest High on That Mountain.”

Marvel Adell Wanous, 83, of Hutchinson, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Memorial services were held Thursday, Feb. 15, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with the Rev. Paul Schumacher officiating. Alice Nowak was the organist. Special music was by the Holy Family Catholic Choir. Musical selections were “Happy Trails,” “Amazing Grace,” “The Old Rugged Cross,” “How Great Thou Art” and “In the Garden.” Readers were Sara Helget and Tanner Stearns.
